To each member of our State Association,
I would like to express my deepest appreciation in
the trust and confidence you have chosen to bestow
upon me as your State President for 2010-2011. I
will strive to demonstrate that your confidence has
not been misplaced. Beth and I are excited at being
your representatives throughout Elkdom as we deliver
the message of the wonderful things the lodges of
our Association have done and the great potential
that is to come.
My motto this year is simple and direct, yet with a
great deal of depth, “Back to the Basics”. What this
means to me will be different than what it means to
each of you.
Back in our not so distant past, being invited to be
a member of the Elks was a great honor. Our lodges
were family friendly places to come to. There was
always something going on for members and their
families. They were out in the community, helping
improve the lives of those around them. It is
following the basic, common sense approaches that
will help to get us back onto the correct path. I
believe that a growing number of members have come
to realize that the family is the basic building
block for our organization.
As I look back on how we became the B.P.O.E., I am
continually fascinated by the great things Elks have
done. These deeds continue today, from giving that
high school student a scholarship to help advance
his/her college dreams, keeping a child or adult
from going down the path of drug addiction through
our drug awareness program, or giving a child their
first camping experience by being sponsored for Elks
Camp Barrett. These are just a few of the things
that it means to be involved with our communities.
I encourage all of the members to take time to visit
your State Major Project, especially if you have
never been there. The Camp is going through some
tough times and needs the support from our members,
now more than ever.
As all State President’s do, I am challenging each
lodge to start a new program. It can be as simple as
collecting one dollar at each meeting for the
William Jernick fund, ENF, Veterans, or Elks Camp
Barrett. It is that simple, just decide to do it!
Fraternally and sincerely,
Carl Robinson
State President
