KENT ISLAND, MD. LODGE
#2576:
DRUG AWARENESS PROGRAM

March 18,
2004:
The Drug Awareness Committee of Kent Island Lodge #2576 and the
REALITY Program of
Queen Anne County presented the "Power of One" Rock Video
show as an Assembly Program to all students at the Queen
Anne County High School. The show was repeated in the
evening at the school for enjoyment of the attending
public. Over 1,000 Students were bussed into this
auditorium and attended the shows and enjoyed this
presentation provided by the
Elks.
November
7, 2004:
The Drug Awareness Committee of Kent Island Lodge #2576 and the
REALITY Program of
Queen Anne County presented a Drug Awareness / Safety
Day for the Community. This event drew hundreds of
people from the communities throughout the Kent Island
area. The Kent Island Elks # 2576 presented bicycle
helmets to the youth (at no cost), as the local Queen
Anne County Management Board received a grant to pay for
these helmets. The Lodge Drug awareness Team presented
Displays from the Elks Drug Awareness Trailer, the REALITY USA Trailer, Maryland State Police
- Explorer Post, Queen Anne County Sheriff Office,
Natural Resources Police, Queen Anne County Health
Dept. - Drug & Alcohol Center, Moon Bounce for the
kids, [2] Electric Train Garden Displays, Md. State
Police Medi-Vac Helicopter, Natural Resources Police
Helicopter, Several Fire Dept Apparatus' from United
Communities VFD and Kent Island VFD, DJ Music from
Island Entertainment, hamburgers, hot dogs, fresh
grilled tuna sandwiches, & soft drinks. The Lodge
DAP team distributed our Elks DAP Literature and
specialty items to include; pencils, rulers, Frisbees,
stickers, satin Red Ribbons,
balloons, etc.

MARCH 19
& 22, 2004:
The Lodge Drug Awareness
Program Committee donated their time to
present the "Power of
One" DVD based Rock video show to the
Havre de Grace Middle School and the Havre de Grace High
School for 8th Grade and 10th Grade students. There
were over 1,000 students in attendance that enjoyed the
shows with the hopes of reaching at least one of those
Youth in being Drug Free!
TOWSON, MD. LODGE
#469
DRUG AWARENESS PROGRAM

APRIL
15, 2004:
Lodge DAP Chairman Mike Perry
and several Members from Towson
Lodge #469 donated their time to present the
"Power of
One" DVD based Rock video show to the
Lombard Middle School in Baltimore City for at-risk
students. There were several hundred students that
enjoyed the show with the hopes of reaching at least one
of those Youth in being Drug Free!
ANNAPOLIS, MD. LODGE
#622
DRUG AWARENESS PROGRAM

APRIL 29,
2004:
The Lodge Drug Awareness
Program Committee donated their time to
present the "Power of
One" DVD based Rock video show to the
Annapolis High School for 9th and 10th Grade
students. There were over 1,000 students in attendance
that enjoyed the shows with the hopes of reaching at
least one of those Youth in being Drug Free! Students
after the show explained to the DAP Team that many
issues in the show really hit close to home with them.
Several days later, the Annapolis High school Counselor
advised the Lodge members that this show gave one of the
female students the courage to come forward and report a
Rape that had occurred several weeks before the
show!
SEVERNA
PARK, MD. LODGE
#2482:
DRUG AWARENESS PROGRAM

JULY 4,
2004:
Members from the Severna Park
Lodge Drug Awareness Program presented our state Drug Awareness Trailer during
the annual 4th of July Parade in Severna Park,
Md. and presented the trailer in a designated area
after the Parade for all to visit. This gathering
was held in a shopping center at the end of the Parade
route and hundreds visited our Drug
Awareness Trailer with much of the Literature
Pamphlets distributed to the Public for an opportunity
for continued Education about the Dangers of
Drugs!
WESTMINSTER, MD. LODGE
#2277:
DRUG AWARENESS
PROGRAM

AUGUST 3,
2004:
The Westminster Elks # 2277 and the
State Drug Awareness Team presented our
State Drug
Awareness Trailer to their communities
during the annual "National
Night Out" against Crime. The Westminster
Police Department prpared several communities for this
celebration of community members as they gathered to
show their unity against crime in their
neighborhoods. Also present was the REALITY USA
Trailer along with other community based
organizations.

"National Night
Out" Against Crime is held each
year across the nation on the evening of the first
Tuesday in August from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with
festivities for the Youth and Adults. It is usually
planned by the Local Law Enforcement Agency in these
communities with the citizens, but is supported by many
coalition organizations to show their UNITY against
Crime, that usually is associated with Drugs &
Alcohol Abuse!
Contact your Local Police Dept.
/ Sheriffs Office to plan to join this event in your
community for 2005.
