ARTICLE
I
MEMBERSHIP
SECTION 1. Every Lodge in the State of Maryland,
the State of Delaware and District of Columbia in good
standing with the Grand Lodge of the Benevolent and
Protective Order of Elks of the United States of America
shall be eligible for membership in the Maryland,
Delaware and District of Columbia Elks Association,
Incorporated, upon complying with the By-Laws of said
Association.
SECTION 2. Each member Lodge of this
Association, in good standing, shall be entitled to the
following representatives who shall be qualified to
participate in and vote upon all matters coming before
meetings of this Association. (1/95)
The Exalted
Ruler and six Delegates, plus one additional Delegate
for each 250 members in excess of 250, according to the
Lodge membership as shown on the last previous Annual
Report to the Grand Lodge, shall be the Official
Delegates of their Lodge to all Association and District
Meetings. (12/98)
SECTION 3. If any Lodge fails
or refuses to pay its dues to the Association one year
from the due date, (May 31), it shall automatically be
dropped from membership, unless its dues shall have been
previously remitted or rescinded pursuant to the
provisions of these By-Laws. A Lodge dropped for
non-payment of dues shall not be eligible for
reinstatement until at least one year after being
dropped. The Lodge, with its application for
reinstatement, shall pay a reinstatement fee of a sum
equal to one year’s current dues plus the dues for the
current year in which the application is being made. A
Lodge that has been dropped shall be reinstated by
action of the Board of Trustees in the same manner as
that of a new Lodge applying for membership.
